I keep studying the way Meléndez painted fruit. I have used some ancient stipple techniques which I learned from a teacher in Paris. I stroke paint on, then stipple it with a short sort of brush, very similar to a stencil brush. It works particularly well on on the slightly textured Gessobord. I like the look, but it takes patience and several drying sessions to finish a painting in this manner. I would not recommend it for doing a painting a day. It is just too slow.
