North Douglas Island Waterfall 6" x 6"

Southeast Alaska is the land of waterfalls. This one on the North end of Douglas Island is a beauty in any season. The biggest problem is where to stand to take a photo.

The copper under the painting reflects the light and changes the colors depending on the light source. The variance between these two photos shows the painting in pink evening sunlight and under an incandescent desk lamp.

Lombardy Poplars Tonalist Oil Painting in Desktop Stand

I have always been attracted to the windbreaks made of rows of Lombardy Poplars. They delineate the farmers fields all across the US. The fragrance of leaves in the fall is one I will always remember from the bus stop where I waited as a child. What fun to kick our way through the drifts of leaves!

Calvert Island West Beach

6" x 8" Oil on Copper sheet on Birch plywood in a Birch Stand

This wild Pacific Beach on Calvert Island is one of the prettiest I have seen. But everywhere there is evidence of storm waves running over the island. Well worth a visit if you get a chance. There is a great fishing lodge on the island that is accessed by float plane. Otherwise, visit by boat.

Hereford Cattle on Lopez Island Desktop Painting

I have had an interesting time painting these petite paintings. In the tradition of Dutch Cabinet Painting or Religious Icons, these are intended to be viewed at an intimate distance. They serve as a sanctuary of the natural world, a meditation focus far from the madding crowd of holiday shoppers. A place of retreat, regrouping and decompressing.
